"As the federal government continues to develop regulations around CBD, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will host a public conference on Thursday to highlight how the cannabinoid’s use and effects may differ based on sex and gender.

The daylong meeting, organized by FDA’s Office of Women’s Health, will include presentations on “sex differences in the effects of CBD and other cannabinoids, use of CBD and other cannabinoids in pregnancy, and government agency perspectives on CBD research and evaluation,” according to an agency description."

Sex Supplements - Containing Viagra; Other Issues

Sex supplements often contain Viagra ingredients | Reuters:

"Herbal supplements aimed at improving men's sexual abilities often contain the active ingredients in erectile dysfunction pills such as Viagra, according to a new study.

Additionally, researchers found that some of these over-the-counter herbal remedies contained more of the ingredient than is allowed in prescription-only pharmaceuticals."

I especially like indulging in coffee, chocolate, wine, sleep.... hmm, I think I like almost all ten!

HIV Pre Exposure Prophylaxis - Very Sharp Two Edged Sword

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) against HIV infection just got a huge spotlight, in this ABC News article, ABC News Examines Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis For HIV Prevention. It seems that HIV drugs taken within days after exposure to the virus have been shown to reduce the risk of infection. Part of the debate is whether approval of such pills could lead some high-risk groups to forgo safe sex practices such as condom use.

After reading this, I'm wondering if we should all be worried about prEP usage without safe sex practices. Are you worried?

5 or More Drinks - Increases STD risk

No surprise. If you drink heavily, your judgement drops, and you're at greater risk of picking up a sexually transmitted disease (STD), reports this LA Times news article, "Binge drinking is fun -- until the gonorrhea diagnosis." Here are the highlights of this article . . .

  1. Drinking five or more alcoholic beverages at one time appears to be connected to risky sexual behaviors and higher rates of STDs
  2. As far as the actual sex, women are more likely to contract some diseases, such as HIV, through repeated condomless intercourse than are men
