Disaster Supplies and Preparedness Checklist

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, and I sense that we're due for an earthquake.

To that end, I'm sharing this checklist for all of us to start following, so that we can be fully prepared for whatever disaster comes our way:

Jan Is Natl Radon Action Month - Are you safe?

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and chemically inert radioactive gas. It is formed by the natural radioactive decay of uranium in rock, soil, and water. Naturally existing, low levels of uranium occur widely in Earth's crust. It can be found in all 50 states. Unless you test for it, there is no way of telling how much is present. If your house has high levels of radon, you need to explore ways to reduce your family's risk of lung cancer. Here are some resources you need to check out . . .

FDA Launches Food Defense Awareness Training Kit For Employees In The Food Industry

After the tomato and peppers scare, you might want share this with your local food handlers and restaurants. An FDA page discusses:  Protecting the Food Supply from Intentional Adulteration, such as Acts of Terrorism

The FDA launched its food defense awareness training kit for first line food industry employees. The training targets these individuals because they can play an important role in helping to keep our nation's food supply safe, from the farm to the table. Food industry management will use the FIRST tool kit as part of ongoing employee food defense training programs, "Employees FIRST - Food Defense Awareness for front-line food industry workers."
