Seven Strategies for Avoiding a 483:  'via Blog this'

"What a 483 is — and isn’t. After inspecting a food, drug, medical device, or biologic establishment, FDA prepares a written report of its inspection findings, following a debriefing. This report is intended primarily for internal FDA use and is not provided to the inspected institution at the conclusion of the on-site visit."
A nice, quick and easy primer on 483s.

Up To Moderate Drinking And Socializing Good For You

It turns out that light-to-moderate drinking enhanced with socializing has been linked to a lesser risk of ischemic stroke and coronary heart disease, reports this EurekaAlert news article, "Light to moderate drinking and socialization are jointly good for cardiovascular health." Here's the bottomline . . .

  • While heavy drinking is associated with a greater risk of stroke, light-to-moderate drinking has been linked to a lesser risk of ischemic stroke and coronary heart disease.
  • New findings show that social support may enhance the beneficial effects of light-to-moderate alcohol consumption on risk of cardiovascular disease.

Cheers to good friends and safe drinking!

GMP Olympics - an onsite training experience

I couldn't resist. The 2008 Olympics are with us. Well, you don't have to be an athlete to go to the Olympics. I discovered this playful title of a GMP training offering, "GMP Olympics." It sounds like fun, involving forming teams and having some friendly competition around the FDA's good manufacturing practices.

C2EO - A fun GMP training game

Updated August 26, 2024:

I believe the FDA cGMP training industry continues to evolve.  It's my sense that there are fewer, and fewer companies offering hardcopy board games for cGMP training.

BTW, the C2EO game is no longer available.

Here's a fun game to use, to make your GMP training fun, C2EO. Watch this video teaser for a flavor of the game, "C2EO - a cGMPs training game." The mantra of the game is, "compliance is the rule, knowledge is profit."

2 Free GMP Training Tips - Make It Fun!

Free GMP Training Tips

Teaching GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) training is hard enough as it is, so be sure to make it fun! Don't be a talking head during your classroom or training sessions. Keep your 'students' engaged. Including games and fun activities during your training will go a long way. The good folks at SkillsPlus International Inc share this great free tip (PDF), "Increase Classroom Success through the Fun of Games." If you don't have enough time to read this, then here are the highlights:
  1. First, the game needs to be content focused.
  2. Second, the game needs to relate directly to the organization.
For games to be fun and create the energy needed for learning, prizes are a
valuable asset. No need to go hog-wild. Simple inexpensive prizes will do. Happy training!
