Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: FDA Authorizes First Oral Antiviral for Treatment of COVID-19 - FDA.gov

The "U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for Pfizer’s Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir tablets and ritonavir tablets, co-packaged for oral use) for the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kilograms or about 88 pounds) with positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death. Paxlovid is available by prescription only and should be initiated as soon as possible after diagnosis of COVID-19 and within five days of symptom onset."

According to the updated advice:

"This advice can help those who might become or are pregnant or breastfeeding as well as parents and caregivers who are feeding children make informed choices when it comes to the types of fish that are nutritious and safe to eat. This advice supports the recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans."

The advice also features a chart that makes it easy to choose dozens of healthy and safe options and includes information about the nutritional value of fish.

This training program (taught by SkillsPlus Intl Inc.) is designed for individuals seeking  a California Home Medical Device Retailer Exemptee license. 

According to a recent California HMDR Program FAQ, "An individual may submit an application for an exemptee license on their own behalf or a licensed HMDR operator may submit an exemptee license application for a current employee for the purpose of dispensing prescription medical devices from that particular facility. In either case, the applicant must meet the required knowledge and training mandated by California Health and Safety Code, Division 104, Part 5, Section 111656.4 (a). This law requires one year of work experience in a facility where dangerous drugs and/or dangerous devices are dispensed, evidence of high school graduation or GED equivalent, and evidence that the applicant has completed a training course that addresses areas of HMDR knowledge and training."

"The "diet" in diet drinks may be a false promise for some soda lovers. True, they deliver the fizz and taste of a soda experience, without the calories. Yet, new research shows they also can leave people with increased food cravings. ...

Given the new research, should diet-soda drinkers who are trying to reach a healthy weight give up on artificially sweetened drinks?

"People with obesity might want to completely avoid diet sodas for a couple of weeks to see if this helps to reduce cravings for high-calorie foods," Schmidt suggests."
